Pet Nutrition
The pet
food-manufacturing industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, in
response to owner demand for innovative, high-quality products. ADM
offers products and services through a Pet Food Technical team to
help:
Custom Micro Premixes (Vitamin /
Mineral blends for the Pet food Industry):
ADM has years of experience in blending vitamin, mineral, or
combination blends to custom order. And, we have separate facilities
to produce other protein-blends or ingredient preblends that will
minimize final manufacturing setups and reduce production times.
ADM offers these extra features and benefits to our Pet food
clients:
-
Batches as small as
500 kg, using a dedicated small mixer
-
A premix plant that is
ionophore and medication-free, to ensure no cross-contamination of
these products in pet food mixes
-
Trace mineral sources
specially chosen by ADM for very-low heavy-metal values
-
A variety of packaging
types from bags to super-sacks to bulk. Small-packaging lines can
handle custom-packaging down to 500 grams per pack.
-
Sourcing of
hard-to-find ingredients either through our world-wide ADM network
or if preferred, customer-supplied.
-
Notification of
newly-released products (either ADM-produced or through our
world-wide network of suppliers), as soon as they are available.
ADM d-alpha
Tocopheryl Acetate
ADM’s unique Vitamin E (registered in Canada as d-alpha tocopheryl
acetate) is obtained from oil seeds as opposed to synthetic Vitamin
E produced from petrochemicals (through specific and controlled
chemical reactions.
ADM’s d-alpha tocopheryl acetate is the stable form of the only
d-alpha stereoisomer of Vitamin E – the most bioavailable
stereoisomer to animals – as opposed to synthetic Vitamin E, which
is a blend of eight different stereoisomers, some with little or no
vitamin E bioavailability. Only one of the eight stereoisomers of
the synthetic Vitamin E is d-alpha tocopherol – it makes up only
12.5% of the total amount of synthetic Vitamin E.
Vitamin E is an essential nutrient for humans and the vast majority
of animals. Recently, the benefits of supplementing human and animal
diets with vitamin E have been greatly emphasized due to its
critical role in many biological functions. Vitamin E provides the
first line of defense in protecting the integrity of body organs,
tissues, and cell membranes from damage caused by biological
oxidation. In this function, Vitamin E acts as an internal
antioxidant to prevent highly unstable free radicals, referred to as
peroxides, from attacking the polyunsaturated fatty acids of cell
membranes. Vitamin E is also crucial for:
ADM’s d-alpha tocopheryl
acetate displays higher bioavailability per unit weight than
synthetic E – 36% better bioavailability according to previous
research. Now, evidence is emerging that ADM’s ‘d-alpha’ product may
in fact show even higher bioavailability, depending on species. ADM
d-alpha tocopheryl acetate is available in dry form.
ADM Wheat Starch:
High-protein and high-fat extruded products can lack enough
ingredient "binder" to ensure firm pellets and low fines. ADM Wheat
Starch is an excellent low-cost carbohydrate source to improve
extruded product structure and reduce breakage and fines. Available
in bags or totes - produced at ADM plants in Canada.
ADM Soy Protein
Products:
ADM Protein Division offers a complete range of Texturized Vegetable
Proteins, Soy Flours, Protein Concentrates and Protein Isolates in
various grades and forms to achieve specific final product nutrient
levels and functionality.
Soycomil® Soy Protein
Concentrate and Ardex® Soy Protein Isolate to:
-
Provide a high quality
amino acid profile in pet products
-
Reduce fat-cap
problems, water activity and fortify gravy in canned product
-
Eliminate
anti-nutritional factors (indigestible and fermentable sugars)
-
Improve texture and
cohesion
Nutrisoy® Soy
Flours to improve amino acid profiles and to optimize flavor,
nutrition and water absorption.
TVP® Texturized
Vegetable Protein, (available in various sizes and colors) find
wide use in canned product as a meat extender. It's fibrous
structure approaches the texture of meat.
Ask us about ingredients
and functional additives and put the processing power of ADM to work
in your next pet food product.
