What does it take to
be a champion?
-
Shiny, thick hair coat
-
Proper muscling
-
Healthy appearance
-
Smooth finish
-
Balance and design
-
Structural soundness
Proper nutrition is one of the keys to
success in the show ring. The genetic potential of a show animal
can be enhanced by exceptional nutritional management.
Identification and use of feed ingredients that are highly
digestible and target lean growth are critical components of a
winning show feed.
It’s important to feed the calf
properly to optimize intake without creating digestive upset. The
underfed calf won’t finish at the desired time, while overfed
calves may have too much finish and are more susceptible to
digestive upset.

Stopper Beef Grower 51406
Provides 14% crude protein, 2% fat, and 14% fiber. Optimal growth
during the growing stage is crucial for show cattle to finish
well. The correct growing ration gives the calf time to achieve
lean tissue and muscle growth while at the same time, develop a
desirable frame through bone growth. This all plays a role in
developing the calf for the finishing period.
Show Stopper Beef Finisher
51408
Provides 12% crude protein, 2% fat, and 10% fiber. The finishing
stage of the show calf is where the real bloom and show readiness
is accomplished. Proper nutrition is crucial to depositing the
correct amount of fat onto the calf’s frame and maintaining the
shine and finished look that judges desire.
Feeding Directions:
Feed Show Stopper Beef Grower or Beef Finisher as the only source
of grain mix along with 1 to 2 lb of dry forage or hay equivalent
per head per day and free-choice minerals. Feed Show Stopper Beef
Grower at the rate of 2.75 to 3% of calf body weight until the
calf reaches 650-750 lb. The length of feeding period will depend
on calf breed and frame size. After calf reaches 650-750 lb body
weight, switch to Show Stopper Beef Finisher and feed at the rate
of 2.75 to 3% of calf body weight until the calf reaches desired
show weight. Monitor and adjust feed intake to achieve desired
growth rate. Follow feeding directions and monitor intake. Provide
unlimited supply of clean, fresh water.
Examples:
-
A 500 lb, medium-framed calf will
consume approximately 13.75-15 lb of Show Stopper Beef Grower
daily.
-
A 900 lb, medium-framed calf will
consume approximately 24.75-27 lb of Show Stopper Beef Finisher
daily.
