Sheep are considered to be among the first animals domesticated.
Their usefulness to mankind has proven invaluable through the
ages. Genetic improvements have yielded great strides in
production of fiber and meat. Environmental modifications,
improvements in reproductive efficiency, disease
prevention/control, and nutritional technological advances have
enabled sheep production to become an important and viable
enterprise in the United States.
