Research-Proven Formulas

As with all its products, ADM Alliance Nutrition is committed to continued research to improve and substantiate its deer products. Research is conducted through funding university research as well as by ADM Alliance Nutrition’s own research department.


Results of research conducted in cooperation with Caesar Kleburg Wildlife Research Institute and Texas A&M University at Kingsville demonstrated:

• Supplemental feeding increases antler size in free ranging deer – 14.5% increase in antler size.
   

• Impact of elevated trace minerals on metabolism – 2X increase in protein retention and increased immune response. Since growing antlers are 80% protein, increasing protein retention can substantially increase antler mass and size. Improving the immune response will have a positive impact on deer health.

Supplement feeding also increases antler size due to increased protein retention (Figure 3, ADM Alliance Nutrition exp. 6083). Research shows a 14.5% increase in antler size using Boone and Crockett score in supplemented deer ages 3.5 to 5.5 years compared to non-fed deer (ADM Alliance Nutrition exp. 6083). A 14.5% increase in antler score can take managed deer into the trophy class, increasing score by 10 to 20 inches. For example, a 14% increase takes a 140 class deer to 160 inches.

Making the Nutritional Choice
When choosing nutritional supplements for deer herds, keep in mind, the most expensive nutrient is the one void in the diet or present in a form unavailable to the animal; consequently, the animal cannot maximize its genetic potential.
