Description |
|
What is
EndoFighter™? |
EndoFighter is a patent-pending product sold exclusively by
Alliance Nutrition. It is specifically designed to reduce the
negative effects of fescue toxicity in ruminants. |
|
How was
it developed? |
Six years
of intensive research led to the discoveries found in this
product. Research focused on identifying ways to combat the
many effects of fescue toxicity. In-vitro screening of
compounds and controlled trials were vital in the development
of EndoFighter. |
|
What is
it used for? |
EndoFighter is specially formulated for cattle grazing fescue
pasture or consuming fescue hay that is infected with the
fescue toxin. |
|
How is
EndoFighter™ delivered to the animal? |
EndoFighter is available within the Alliance Nutrition mineral
line. The recommended blend contains IGR (Insect Growth
Regulator) and CTC; with various options. |
|
Performance Benefits |
|
What are
the most common benefits? |
Field
trials with cow calf operations showed an improvement in calf
growth rate when cows were fed mineral with EndoFighter. Cows
fed EndoFighter also gained weight while nursing calves
whereas the control cows lost weight. Numerous testimonials
indicate that cattle spend more time grazing and less time in
shade or ponds when consuming ADM Alliance Nutrition mineral
with EndoFighter. |
|
How long
before benefits are observed? |
Our
Research has shown increased grazing time may be observed 4-7
days after EndoFighter is offered. Improved hair coat
typically occurs in 3-4 weeks. |
|
When
should it be fed? |
This
product should be fed any time cattle are consuming infected
fescue. The greatest improvement in performance may be
observed during the summer months but benefits may be observed
in the winter as well. |
|
Can
EndoFighter be fed to stockers or animals other than beef
cattle? |
EndoFighter can be fed to beef cattle during all life stages.
ADM Alliance Nutrition mineral with EndoFighter should not be
fed to sheep. |
|
Manufacturing and Handling |
|
Are there
storage concerns? |
Although
weatherized, feed ADM Alliance Nutrition mineral with
EndoFighter in a covered mineral feeder. When wet, an odor
may be noticed and the product may harden and clump.
|
|
How much
do I feed? |
Feed 4
oz/hd/day to mature or nearly mature cattle. 500-800 lb
stocker cattle may only need 3 oz/hd/day. |
|
How
should it be fed? |
Non-medicated ADM Alliance Nutrition mineral with EndoFighter
may be fed free-choice. However, if the mineral is medicated
(i.e. Chloratetracycline) it must be hand-fed according to
label directions. |
|
Additional Questions |
|
Can you
test for fescue toxins in the forage? |
Fescue
toxicity results from a combination of endophyte toxins and
heat stress. Analysis can be expensive. Ergovaline analysis
is done by the University of Missouri. Infected tiller
analysis can be performed by other laboratories. It may be
helpful to contact the local extension agency to discuss the
severity of fescue problems in your area. |
|
How is
EndoFighter different ? |
Our
product is a complete package. We address the fescue problem
with multiple solutions to give cattle a complete complement
of technologies. |
|
Can other
companies copy EndoFighter? |
No. EndoFighter
is patent pending. ADM Alliance Nutrition uses selected
ingredients in the manufacturing of EndoFighter. |
|
Can you
see an improvement? |
Yes.
On a hot
afternoon, producers should count the number of cattle in
shade or ponds before offering EndoFighter. Repeat after 3
weeks on the mineral. Most of the cattle will be grazing at
the second observation. |
