HMB Advantages:
HMB, a source of methionine analog, has been shown in research
trials to stimulate dry matter and fiber digestion in the rumen,
thereby improving rumen function resulting in stimulation of milk
fat synthesis.
-
HMB has been shown to alter rumen
fermentation by increasing acetate and butyrate production (at the
expense of propionate, allowing for production of more milk fat.
-
HMB may enhance microbial lipid
synthesis, which increases the quantity of total lipids available
for milk fat production.
-
A three point increase in milk fat
percentage was obtained when cows were supplemented with HMB (Rode
et al., 1997). This increase contributed to a 0.44 lb (200 g)
increase in daily milk fat, improving gross income.

HMB has been shown to increase
efficiency of microbial protein synthesis, which increases
microbial protein’s contribution in meeting metabolizable protein
requirements
Stimerall F Offers . . .
-
HMB — Beneficial to rumen
fermentation.
-
Highly rumen-available methionine
analog — 95% of HMB is available to rumen microbes.
-
Inclusion rate — 0.25 lb/hd/daily
(provides 19.7 g methionine analog/day).
-
Flexibility — Can be top-dressed on
rations or used in a TMR.
-
Improvement in fiber digestion and
rumen function, which usually leads to an increase in milk fat
percentage.
Stimerall F is designed for feeding to
cows with a normal milk fat test. The use of Stimerall F is not
recommended in herds with low milk fat tests.
