Rodent infestation is costly . . .

Rodents
► Rodents contaminate 10 times more grain than they eat (costs $2 billion annually)
► Rodents cause structural damage to buildings by burrowing, gnawing, and nesting.
► Rodents transmit disease-causing organisms, such as Salmonella, Leptospira, Trichinella,
          E. coli, Hantavirus, Cryptosporidium, pseudorabies, and many others.

Prevent Financial Losses with Effective Rodent Control
Maintaining control over rodent populations is an ever-present management challenge. Even short-term neglect of rodent control can mean financial frustrations in terms of property damage, grain/feed damage, and disease transmission. Year-round monitoring and maintenance of an effective rodent control program can prevent financial losses.

An effective rodent control program is an integrated pest management program. This approach combines:

  • Environmental modification (sanitation and rodent-proofing of buildings)

  • Population reduction (use of effective rodenticide)

  • Kills the three most common rodents—Norway rat, roof rat, and house mouse

  • Choice of highly effective active ingredients

  • Highly acceptable and palatable baits entice consumption of bait leading to death

  • Convenient and easy to use

  • Choice of product forms

Signs of Rodent a Problem

  • Torn feed bags

  • Droppings and urine stains

  • Rodent hair

  • Grease smears on walls and floors

  • Gnawed wiring, insulation, walls, etc.

  • Burrows along foundations and fence lines

Rodents on the Move
As weather cools, rodents move into buildings taking refuge. Initiate a rodent control program before rodent populations become established.

Place Pack Advantage

  • Packaging protects bait – keeps bait fresh and prevents moisture penetration

  • Easy to place in hard-to-reach places

  • Enables aroma to penetrate package, attracting rodents

Rodenticide Baiting Tips

  • Bait entire building (inside and outside). It is especially important to use bait stations outside of buildings to protect non-target animals. Empty buildings should also be baited to prevent establishment of new colonies.

  • Eliminate access to food sources.

  • Use fresh bait. Remove stale, damp, or moldy bait.

  • Keep bait fresh and free of contamination.

  • Place bait at proper locations and distances.

  • Strategically place bait along walls, near doorways, under feeders, and other protected areas where rodent signs are evident.

  • Ensure adequate amount of bait is used. Underbaiting is one of the main reasons for poor rodent control.

  • Wear gloves when handling bait, as rodents have a keen sense of smell and taste.

  •  Place water near bait stations for greater consumption of bait and more rapid kill. ¨ Use tamper-proof bait stations to protect non-target animals.

  • Check bait stations every other day during the first 10 days of initial baiting and twice weekly thereafter.

  • Properly dispose of dead rodents daily.

  • Seal access points into buildings ¼ inch and larger in diameter.

Wipe Out®

Active Ingredient: Bromethalin

Wipe Out products contain a unique neurotoxin, bromethalin. Unlike anticoagulants found in most rat and mice baits, bromethalin affects the central nervous system, causing paralysis leading to death. Rodents consume a lethal dose of fast-acting bromethalin in one feeding, which means less bait is needed for rodent population reduction After consuming a lethal dose, rodents cease feeding. Death occurs two days following consumption of bromethalin. Secondary toxicity is not a threat with bromethalin.

Large populations of rats and mice have become resistant to some anticoagulant baits, but not to bromethalin, which effectively kills anticoagulant-resistant rodents.

Wipe Out Products Place Packets (0.5 oz packet):

  • 850300CS – 200 packets (4 containers of 50 packets each)

  • 850300PL -1 pail of 50 packets each

Blue Death®

Active Ingredient: Diphacinone

Blue Death products kill warfarin-resistant rodents. These products are more potent and have longer anticoagulant activity compared to warfarin. These baits are highly palatable to entice consumption,
a key factor in bait acceptance. Blue Death products are dyed blue or green, depending on the product, to clearly distinguish the bait from feed products.

Blue Death-D is a cost-effective rodenticide containing diphacinone, a multiple-feed anticoagulant. Rodents die within seven to ten days after consuming sufficient amounts of Blue Death-D. These products contain highly palatable ingredients, which encourage intake leading to a reduction in feeding days to death.

Blue Death-D Products

  • 8571 – Hide-A-Pack (4 oz packet, 80 per container)

  • 8574 – 110 lb carton All-Weather, Mold and Moisture Resistant Bars
(1 lb bar scored in 1 oz segments):

  • 8575 – 18-1 lb bars/container an All-Weather, Mold and Moisture Resistant Bars

Ra-Mo-Cide® WF

Active Ingredient: Warfarin

Ra-Mo-Cide WF products contain warfarin, an anticoagulant. Rodents consume the highly palatable, grain-based bait over a period of several days before death occurs. Bait shyness is not a problem as warfarin’s mode of action is chronic rather than acute. Ra-Mo-Cide WF products are pink-colored for ease of identification.

Ra-Mo-Cide WF Products Place Packets (3 oz packet):

  • 8601 – 144 packets (4 containers of 36 packets each)

To help ensure a successful rodent control program, follow rodenticide direction for use. To assure maximum and continuous bait intake and to maintain product freshness, the appropriate quantity and package sizes of rodenticide should be purchased.
